SPRING 2016 Schedule

March 6, 2016  Sunday  11am-2pm  $68   Light Participation

Garlic & Herb Olives

Paella - Venezuela Style

Key Lime Pie

A few tasty sauteed olives are perfect to pique the appetite without being filling.  Fish, shrimp, squid, pork, sausage, mussels, clams, and lots of pimento help to create this fantastic Latin American paella.  Key lime pie with it’s tart creaminess is very pleasant on the palate after this spicy rich main dish.

April 3, 2016  Sunday  11am-2pm  $68   Light Participation

Asparagus & Feta Salad

Butternut Lasagna

Sour Cherry Macadamia Tarte Tatin

A salad of crisp tender Asparagus and thinly shaved aged feta cheese help us welcome Spring.  The lasagna features roast butternut slabs, just the right amount of pasta, and walnut infused béchamel sauce.  This upside down tart features wonderfully caramelized cherries and nuts when turned upright for serving.

April 17, 2016  Sunday  11am-2pm  $68   Light Participation

Southwest Tart / Herb Crust

Herb Poached Salmon / Dill Sauce

Pan Fried Broccolini

Strawberries with Brown Sugar Dip

A buttery cheesy herby crust is a great base for the perky vegetables on top.  The salmon will be crusty on top, tender and perfectly cooked throughout.  Another tasty way to enjoy Spring’s wonderful fruit, the strawberry!

May 22, 2016  Sunday  11am-2pm  $68   Light Participation

Sausage Cups

Crispy Duck Breast / Grapefruit Sauce / Parsnip Chips

Smashed Baby Potatoes

Fudge Pie / Cookie Crust

Oh, the richness of duck breast meets it’s perfect mate, grapefruit.  We’ll panfry thin parsnip chips whose flavor and texture will highlight this fantastic entrée.  Sausage served in toast cups are a great starter or can be combined with salad for a nice Spring/Summer meal.

Cooking Classes (see schedules below) - Winery kitchen cooking classes are scheduled regularly at   First Colony Winery in the rolling hills of the Virginia Piedmont.  Each class is designed to offer expertise with a different menu and set of cooking secrets that will lead you towards ever-greater confidence in home entertainment. These intimate participation style classes culminate with sitting down to our delicious lunch or dinner, paired with the delightful offerings of the winery’s cellar. The camaraderie is effusive as we converse with the vintner while enjoying his and our creations.                            Gift certificates are always available.

Special Events with a Class Motif provide an opportunity for the creation of an active, entertaining, and memorable occasion to celebrate your special event. Wedding Events - let the girls get away to have some fun (what the heck, bring along the boys, they may not always admit it but they have fun cooking too!)

Corporate Team Building - seeing your coworkers (yes, the bosses are included!) wearing aprons and up to their elbows in culinary creation (followed with great food and wine indulgence) can’t help but to raise the morale!

Parties Too Large for the Home - What a great way to enjoy a larger group of your friends!  The romance and mystique of a winery joined with the fun and excitement of great food and wine make for an activity that everyone will enjoy. It doesn’t get any better than this!
